"Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance." James 1:2-3
Pastor Isaac Jacquet is one of seven Lutheran pastors in the country of Haiti, a small island off the coast of Florida that is now considered one of the poorest countries in the world. Lack of clean water and sanitation results in a high death rate and the practice of Voodoo causes many to live in constant fear.Pastor was living with his wife and four children in their one bedroom home when he took in two children who were found unconscious and near death due to lack of food…and then he took in 22 more. If Pastor had not taken these children in, they most likely would have starved or become what the Haitian’s call “Restavicks” or slave children.
For a family of 28, in this destitute country, there is never enough food for their stomachs but Pastor assures us that these children will have a better life with him even if they do not have food everyday, because they are learning that they do not need Voodoo to protect them. He is teaching them, as he is so many others, that they have a loving God and a Savior who is always with them and will never abandon them like so many Haitian children that have been left to die. These kids are living this every day yet they endure. What are we willing to endure to help these kids?
To help Pastor Isaac and the children by making a pledge please email the following information to 32milematchup@gmail.com:
Your chosen triathlete, the amount you pledge and since you are so confident your athlete will cross the finish line first, how much you pledge to give should your athlete cross second.
God's blessings.
